Questions:

  1. Read 1 Peter 2:4-10 this week.
  2. In 2:4, how does Peter describe Jesus? How had Jesus described Peter? What might Peter's description imply?
  3. In 2:4-5, what does Peter call the Christian? Why? How did we become that? What's God doing with us? How is He building us? What encouragement is there in God's 'exiles' seeing the God's perspective of Jesus regardless of Man's opinion?
  4. In 2:6-8, Peter grounds what he's just said in the testimony of Scripture. Why? What is Scripture? What is it's testimony communicating about God's 'building'? What about it's foundation? What difference does it make if you trust in this Rock or not?
  5. In 2:9-10, Peter comes back to God's building---the heirs of His saving mercy in Jesus. He gives us several titles. All used to identify Israel. Now, they identify the church. What are the titles? What do they teach us about us? What is the great purpose of our redemption and edification?
